The case for recycling steel production residues as feedstock is compelling. You cut your raw material demand and landfill costs, save energy and reduce your carbon footprint. You also shorten your supply chain, while supporting zero-waste steelmaking and the circular economy.
Still, none of this matters if your feedstock doesn’t work with your melt recipe.
TMS International’s Middletown EPS plant is where we prove it in production. Mills ship their co-products to Ohio and then work with EPS specialists to engineer their feedstock.
The EPS plant uses a Steele extruder, ensuring a homogenous blend for more strength and standardized, consistent performance. You can recycle dusts, blast furnace slag, iron oxide fines, iron concentrates, mill scale and sludge.
EPS is running a large-scale feedstock trial at the Middletown, Ohio EPS plant July 11-15, with an open house planned for July 14th. If you’re ready to make the move to greener steel, contact DD Vergara at dvergara@jcsteele.com or 704.761.6807.
We’ll be happy to walk you through the EPS process and show you why it should be part of your zero-waste steelmaking program.
